I’ve been living in Montreal for some time now and created various lists of places for different groups of people. Because everybody has a priority: some want to check off landmarks from their lists, some like to try the best restaurants, some would like to check out the vintage stores... This guide is for people who would like to discover a city on their own. Pick two random spots from from the suggestions and create your adventure in between!

How the guide is organized: You day start with a morning coffee, then the guide will bring you to Plateau and to Mile-End after. There you have a choice between two markets: heading up to Marche Jean-Talon (and discovering Mile-Ex and Villeray) or heading back to St-Henri -to the Atwater Market. For the late afternoon, you can either check the Westmount Greenhouse, visit Habitat 67, walk around in Old Port or discover Montreal’s underground tunnel and architecture connected to it. There are couple of bars that you can choose from to end your day.

P.S. You probably need two to three days to cover everything mentioned in this guide :) Hence, come for a weekend!

Pikolo Espresso Bar is one the flag bearers of Montreal’s third wave coffee scene. They managed to keep the standard pretty high at this tiny place. It gets busy in the morning but if you don’t want to miss the sunshine on top your coffee, be there around 8am. After having a delicious espresso or cortado, you can either head towards Square St-Louis or wander around McGill Ghetto to discover some great architecture.
